The management team of the programme answers frequently asked questions
Applications for participation in the master’s programme are underway. Colleagues from all over the world are interested in the programme. The applicants are always confronted with practical questions. "I will be happy to help you," says programme coordinator Susanne Glatz-Jorde and answers frequently asked questions.
Where will the training take place?
The individual teaching units will take place at locations of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (Villach, Klagenfurt) and at the Lakeside Campus in Klagenfurt. In addition, we will visit various protected areas and use the corresponding facilities and seminar rooms on site. We will focus on national parks, biosphere reserves, world heritage sites and nature parks in Austria and neighbouring countries. At the beginning of the course, the participants can decide where they want to go. They therefore know in advance exactly when and where the events will take place.
How are the courses organised?
The study programme comprises four semesters and a total of 64 days of attendance. The individual courses are grouped into eight blocks. For the positive completion of the master’s programme, participation in the course on site is mandatory. In addition, there is comprehensive e-learning support.
How do I apply?
The application takes place in several steps: 1.) You send your application documents (application form, CV, letter of motivation, 2 letters of recommendation, copy of academic degree) to the programme coordinator Susanne Glatz-Jorde (glatz-jorde@e-c-o.at). 2.) After reviewing the documents, you will be invited to an interview with the scientific director Michael Jungmeier. This will be done by telephone or skype. 3.) In case of a positive application you will receive a "Preliminary Letter of Admission". This letter will confirm your admission to the programme. 4.) Immediately after the application deadline you will receive a participation contract.
Please note that participants from outside the European Union must have their academic degrees certified. The programme coordinator can help you with this. Please also contact the Programme Coordinator (glatz-jorde@e-c-o.at) with any other questions.
What are the total costs?
The participation fee of € 12,900 includes all costs for courses and all fees, as well as all teaching materials that we make available to you digitally. You may use the facilities of the University of Applied Sciences free of charge. Individual travel costs to and from Klagenfurt as well as the stay on site are not included. Additional travel costs are incurred for excursions.
Can the tuition fee be paid in instalments?
Yes, we can offer payment in instalments per semester, with the first instalment higher and the last instalment lower (€ 4,450/€ 3,250/ € 3,250/€ 1,950). The payment modalities are regulated in the participation contract.
Are there any scholarships or financial support from the University of Applied Sciences?
Unfortunately, the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences does not have its own funds. We are happy to support our participants and applicants in contacting national and international bodies offering scholarships.
Who are the lecturers in the different courses?
The lecturers are appointed by the University of Applied Sciences on the recommendation of the scientific director. The spectrum of teaching content is very broad, which is why the teachers represent very different disciplines. Most lecturers come from international organisations, universities as well as consulting and educational institutions. They are experienced personalities who are internationally recognised in their respective fields and also have special didactic and pedagogical skills.
Who should I contact if I have any other questions?
Programme Coordinator Susanne Glatz-Jorde will be happy to answer any professional, technical, organisational or logistical questions you may have: glatz-jorde@e-c-o.at.
